C2city – Education City
“An Education City leverages the idea of breaking free from the tendency to see cities as a collection of buildings, and to remember that a real city is comprised of flesh and blood and not cement. Its strength derives from its connections and relationships, its partnerships and its human interaction.” Edward Glazer, professor of economics, Harvard University.
C2city aims to create an educational social system and to build a community that takes responsibility for expressing the uniqueness of the individual, the community, and the city in its entirety. DI accompanies municipalities in the process of developing an Education City.
- To build an education system that sees the city as one big school – pedagogic development for meaningful learning.
- To create frameworks that enable the public to take part in the design of the educational social space in which they live – centers of the future and incubators for initiatives, innovation, and pedagogic change.
- To design unique programs for different groups, such as preschoolers, youth, families in need, and others.
- To accompany cities, municipalities, and regional councils in the invention, development, and implementation of their own unique educational social concept.
The C2City Knowledge Center is run by experts who are engaged in developing a diverse set of tools and materials, culminating in a knowledge portfolio that supports the establishment of a fully-fledged Education City. These materials explore the theoretical, pedagogical, economic, organizational, and ethical facets of the Education City concept.
DI has accompanied more than 20 municipalities in the process of becoming an Education City. Among these municipalities were winners of education prizes for being experimental municipalities of the Ministry of Education.
