Personal Education

- The personal education program creates a system of education that views every student as a person with unique skills and needs. The program is aimed at providing personal-familial response for all schoolchildren in a given town, to help them find their inherent potential. The process involves and includes to the utmost the whole range of opportunities available to the children - this includes the education systems (formal and informal) , the social affairs system and voluntary bodies. Those collaborations are aimed at enabling the pooling of resources between all the services targeting children and families, by those city entities.
- The personal-familial relationship between schoolchildren and the system is facilitated by a personal mentor, a member of the school teaching staff who receives a larger teaching position than usual. S/he is responsible for a small group of children, ranging from five to a maximum of 20.
- The programme was first run in Bat Yam in 2006. Since then it has been launched, and is in different stages, in 20 Israeli towns and localities.
